Guest post: What is Kas thankful for?

I have a real treat for everyone today! I messed my back and neck up recently after doing a posture workshop (irony...?), which has made it difficult to do manicures as I usually do. So I asked the lovely Varnished Valkyries if they would like to guest for me, and I'm delighted that they said yes! Please enjoy the lyrical stylings of Miss Kas!

Hey! It's Kas from Varnished Valkyrie! I'm wicked pumped to be guest blogging on this fine day. I got all excited(and nervous) when Veronica asked me to do a guest post after she hurt her back(I hope you are better!). She is by far one of the most talented and creative bloggers out there! So I would like to say thank you! Let's get this started shall we?

Veronica had said a nice theme would be "inspired by something for which you are thankful". I thought "This will be easy!". Family. Friends. Food. Etc. Then it got hard. I'm super thankful for all these things but I wasn't inspired by them. So I looked around my room. C'mon inspiration. Then I saw a huge pile of scripts I had written. That's it! I'm thankful that I can pursue my dreams and no one's telling me no. You should probably know my goat* in life is to be a writer. Specifically a sitcom writer, with my own show on the BBC. I am well aware of the risks that I am taking but it's the one thing I LOVE doing.

So let's get to the nails now! First the colours. White, blue, pink, gold(yellow), and green. I chose them because when you write a show the original shooting script is printed out on white paper. Then say something on page 12 is edited. The new page 12 is now printed on blue paper. And if it's edited again, pink. And so on. Next I wrote the word LAUGH in in Courier(the typeface you would see on a script), because that's what I hope to make people do. Finally I added newspaper print(went over it twice with the paper to make it look a bit rougher). I thought it would go well with my theme. They all didn't turn out the same. But it worked perfectly with the revising script theme.

So there you have it! Hope I see you guys around again soon! I would like to thank Veronica again for letting me do a post! Feel better! Unless you're already better. In that case...stay better... :)

This was taken the first time I did the newspaper nails.

This is after the second time I used the newspaper. It looked a bit matte. But I thought the effect was cool.

I ended up putting topcoat, as it made the black from the paper pop a bit.

I used China Glaze White Ice, and Sea Spray. CND Rose Bud. Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure. Essie Turquoise & Caicos. And finally acrylic paint for the lettering.

*I realize I made a huge typo. But you should all know I chose to keep it. For the sake of art...and it made me giggle.

Thank you, Kas! I hope all of your dreams come true! And extra props for keeping the typo. :P
